Back in the 1990’s or maybe in the 1980’s there were these cute homemade bunnies that started showing up.  They were made from washcloths, hand towels, and even bath towels and embellished with ribbons, artificial flowers, wiggly eyes, and pompoms.  The smaller ones were meant for an ice cube to be placed in the belly.  Between the ice and cuteness, they were supposed to alleviate a child’s pain from a minor injury.  Lots of these little bunnies were given as gifts for baby showers.  Personally, I think it would be super cute to make some bunnies and put plastic Easter eggs in them for little kids to find on Easter. Fortunately, these little cuties are extremely simple to make and you can make one for yourself, give one as a gift, or make that Easter egg hunt a little more special without spending too much money or time.

Here is a list of supplies that you will need for your very own small boo boo bunny:

    • Ribbon
    • Wiggly Eyes
    • Pom Poms
    • Artificial Flowers or any other embellishments (Optional)
    • Rubber band (Optional)
    • Scissors

    Step 1:

Fold your washcloth in half diagonally.

    Step 2:

Roll the wash cloth tightly starting from the point of the triangle all the way to the bottom or long end.

    Step 3:

Fold the rolled-up washcloth in half.

    Step 4:

Fold each of the ends down and place the rubber band (if you choose to use one) over the fat side of the washcloth so the ends are left hanging free.  If you choose not to use a rubber band, you can go ahead and tie your ribbon where your rubber band would be places but you will need to make sure it is tied very tightly so it doesn’t come out.  The rubber band is a great way to secure it but I do not recommend it if you are giving this as a gift to a very small child for safety reasons.

    Step 5:

Hot glue pom poms for the nose and tail, wiggly eyes, and any other decorations you choose.  Again, for safety concerns with small children, you can opt for felt pieces being stitched onto the bunny instead of wiggly eyes and you would need to be mindful of the decorations that you choose to use.

Now that you have made your very own boo boo bunny, what will you do with it?  Will she make a child’s ouchies feel better?  Will he move around before Easter like the elf at Christmas?  The possibilities are endless.  No matter what, I am sure the bunny will be a big hit for any occasion.
