Have you ever just felt like crafting, creating something extraordinary, making something magnificent…but you just don’t know what to make?  Before you throw all of your craft supplies all over the table and get overwhelmed by the decision of what items to use and what to make next, read on to locate places of DIY inspiration.

There are many different places that you can get crafty ideas online.  Sometimes all it takes to get a great idea is seeing all the ideas out there and believe me, there are SO MANY out there! Here is a list of my favorite places for inspiration.

1. Pinterest

Pinterest is a great place to start to see what other people are creating.  You can choose a theme to search by or you can generally select a genre of craft you like to do.  Maybe you just want to stick with something that you already have the supplies for.  Pinterest is a great place to gain inspiration for choosing your next big idea.

2. Etsy

Etsy is another place that you can draw inspiration.  Crafters on Etsy make money by selling their crafts.  Originally, Etsy was created as a marketplace for handmade items to be bought and sold.  Now, there are more and more items showing up on Etsy that are not exactly handmade but that does not mean you can’t surf around Etsy, giving shop owners views, and come up with your own fresh ideas.

3. YouTube

Another source of inspiration can be found in YouTube.  You can practically search up anything and find a how-to video on YouTube.  Do you want to learn a new paint technique?  Do you want to learn how to make a pinata?  You can find so many things on YouTube and the best part is that you get suggested videos based on ones you choose to watch.  There is a downfall to this though.  You can get sucked into the never-ending time drain of just watching and not doing anything.  YouTube is only suggested for those strong-willed individuals that can just eat one chip and walk away from the bag, so to speak.

4. Thrift Stores

One of my all-time favorite sources of inspiration for crafting is actually going to thrift stores.  The best part about thrift stores is the unique items that you can find can actually give you crazy but awesome ideas for new projects.  You can find a really ugly lampshade and turn it into a character for a cool party prop or maybe you find a random piece of wood that would make an awesome new sign for your home with a little paint and creativity.  The opportunities are endless with thrift stores and the best part is that it keeps your cost low and is environmentally-friendly to reuse items.

Before you go search out your next big idea, I highly suggest taking note of the craft supplies you currently have so you will know what you will need for your project. This way, when you do go shopping, you don’t end up with a million wiggly eyes and no glue sticks.

I hope this article directs you to places to help you find inspiration for your next big masterpiece.  The point is that you need to find what you are interested in and take it to the next level.  Check out the sources I mentioned in this article to find your inspiration and don’t forget to follow me for more crafty advice!
